This year, after more than fifty years of relative political stability, Senegal is on the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. With barely two weeks to the decisive elections of March 18, the whole world is holding its collective breath; waiting, watching, anxious and hopeful; hopeful that five decades of exemplary political leadership will not descend into chaos or mire Senegal in a state of political quandary.

Opposition leader Ousainou Darboe has described the results of the Gambia's presidential election as “bogus”, which the United Democratic Party will not accept.

UDP presidential candidate, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, has said that the his party will emerged victorious saying “our expectation of victory is not just a fancy but [predicated] on the behavior and attitude of the people”.

"On behalf of UDP and its alliance partners, I hereby communicate to all of you, our heartfelt gratitude. Undoubtedly, Gambia depends on its good and patriotic sons and daughters for the salvation of our motherland. It is your efforts and tenacity that have contributed to the desire of change that has taken hold in Gambia in the past few weeks. The culmination will be Thursday, 24th November 2011, when the Yahya Jammeh tyranny would come to a final and complete termination, by the power of your votes," Mr Daboe says in his final message to Gambians before Thursday's presidential election.
