PRO Sulayman Secka says suspects will be charged with murder
The principal suspect in the last month slaying of a local businessman in Farafenni, has died at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital after a brief illness, police sources said on Thursday.
The police have been quick to dispel speculations that Gaye died as a result of torture by law enforcement agents to compel him confess to murdering Momodou Tunkara.
Ex-soldier Lamin Gaye, a relative of the murdered businessman Alhagie Momodou Tunkara, died at RVTH on Tuesday. He was laid to rest on Wednesday at Farato village in kombo North.
Both Lamin Gaye and Momodou Tunkara were natives of Sanjal Sarra kunda in the North Bank Region.
Gaye was arrested by senegalses police at Kaolack while on the run after the murder incident. He was arrested alongside three other suspects, namely: Bafoday Sesawo (alias Mbackeh Faal), Fabakary Kassama, a ferry captain at Yelli Tenda-Bamba Tenda crossing point and Sheriff Malayine Dibba, a veterant vetinary worker. All the suspects are residents of Farafenni Town.
