Mr. Pa Nderry Mbai, Publisher, Freedom Newspaper was also criticised for reports on Gambian asylees in Dakar, Senegal.
Editor,
This is my first contribution towards the good work of the Gambian media
because since I relocated to the West three years ago, I fully depend on you
for good coverage. You are all tirelessly doing your best to see to it that as
Gambians we are enjoying your positive coverage of the news from The Gambia.
However the outrageous and unprecedented kind of news coverage coming
from the Freedom newspaper could only be described as a disgrace to the Gambian
press. This is very unpleasant and rude and Pa Nderry Mbai should be told to
respect the norms of journalisms and stop spreading unfounded lies and wicked
rumours against innocent Gambians.
Stories after stories in the Freedom Newspaper are often covered with
not only a bunch of lies, but also horrible sensational fabrication against
innocent people that have struggled very hard for our country. Pa Nderry may
think that this kind of behaviour acceptable on his part is funny and that he
can go Scott-free by libelling and slandering others, but that may not be the
case in the near future.
Bearing endless grudge and hatred against innocent people is not
journalism and Pa Nderry should learn from other media houses what it means to
be journalists and stop the endless lies. Pa Nderry also disgracefully
splashing pictures of himself like an insane clown is laughable and am sure all
journalists are now bowing in shame because they are somehow afraid to confront
him (except one or two editors) who have doubted this monster insanity.
Many people found this very distasteful and shameful form of journalism
and everyone must join hands to stop these monstrous activities destroying the
name of our country by using the name of the Gambia press.
